Need an Ark? I 'Noah' Guy

'Noah' is the latest film associated with Christianity to be released this year and it's the only one to cause controversy. I believe it is unwarranted. Some religious folk have cried fowl at the content. But they are forgetting the fact that this was never meant to be a literal interpretation. Their blind dislike has made them overlook the many areas where the film did succeed. This is a much more dramatically fleshed out story than the one it is based off. Firstly, the characters are explored at greater length. They are given much emotional depth that humanizes them and makes them relatable. Their moral dilemmas are all the more involving because of this. Secondly, the themes in the original story are represented and expanded upon. I loved how it brought about constant uncertainty though each character's own interpretation of the grand situation, and their questioning of life purpose. Beautiful visuals, as well as dark, highlight the emotional struggles. I will say that I found the first half to be so-so. I can't quite find a good explanation for this, other than I just didn't find it involving. It felt routine in the 'Hollywood Epic' type of sense. Things become more investing in the latter half when all the positive points I mentioned become front and center. 'Noah' is one of the more emotionally resonant, and overall entertaining films based off of a Biblical story that I've seen. You don't have to be religious to enjoy and be enriched by it.
