'The Motel Life' shows a rare downtrodden lifestyle brought by poor upbringing and outlook. The brothers push through with their creativeness in sharing drawings and stories with each other. There's a heartbreak in their situation, but I never quite felt it fully. The imaginative stylistic animated segments of the stories offset the drama too much for me. The narrative is also jumbled a bit. It took me a while to get behind the relationship. More longer scenes of dialogue between the brothers would've helped. Other than that, this is a solid movie. Good acting and a decent story.
