Unpredictable, But Very Uneven

'Proxy' starts off in a shocking manner. It's a bizarre way to begin a film, when not sharing any knowledge of the main character, story, etc. The whole film follows an unpredictable, weird path. The first half builds up a disturbed character. We basically learn nothing about her. Then an unexpected turn happens in the middle that swaps main characters. The second half changes into a drama about grieving. This change-up doesn't go over well. It slows to a crawl with the loss of the 'thriller/horror' elements, and the drama doesn't work. The ending is rushed. It falls flat after that long deflation. There's nothing in these characters worth following. The whole movie is just a turn filled plot, with an uneven mix of assorted genre materials, and zero character explanations. Take that for what it is.
