The directing offers some surface value through the use of striking visuals and slo-mo. The sci-fi elements are underplayed and the mystery plot is adequate. I was interested in the beginning. It plods along through the middle with only a tiny amount of information ever told. This would've worked as decent buildup, but the third act 'escape' is just as slow and it leads to a slightly surprising, yet underwhelming finale.
