I appreciate the attempt at wartime satire during actual wartime. Sadly, the opportunity is wasted on jokes that don't take advantage of skewering the relevant subject matter. This film is obviously made by smart people. Thats why it pains me to see a routine skrewball showcase wedged into an espionage WWII plot. The two don't mesh, and both sides suffer from it. I'd be more forgiving if the jokes were funny, but they all fall flat. Predictable comic situations of the time are delivered in sitcom fashion. All that's missing is the happy theme music and overly loud audience laugh for the pauses that are already present.
