Mundane Slasher Lacks Everything Promised

'Extraterrestrial' is nothing more than your most average slasher movie. It's yet another brainless exercise in going through the same motions for the hundred thousandth time. I know a good majority of these types of films exist and still work as serviceable pieces of low grade entertainment. I'm partial to this sub-genre, but even I get bored with it half the time. This is a prime example of that boredom. The only positives here are that it's short, super fast, and the cinematography/lighting effects are impressive. That's it. Every other single moment of this film feels like a lazy repetitious rehash of extremely tired formula. There's zero attempt at scares, the aliens look generic and aren't even close to being menacing or scary, and there's absolutely nothing new or clever outside of the infamous 'anal probing'. Speaking of, that 'probe' was the stupidest hyped moment I can recall in recent years. It had no purpose other than shock humor, but it was neither shocking nor funny. It was just DUMB and pointless. Much potential was missed in the third act when the heroine attempted to rescue her abducted counterparts. Such a lackluster waste of endlessly possible scenarios. I did like the final scene, though. A good closer to an otherwise completely disappointing time waster.
