Simple Hike for Older Folk

'A Walk in the Woods'... the title pretty much sums it all up. This is a lighthearted hiking comedy featuring two of my favorite (now elderly) actors. They definitely sell the comroadarie. Cheating on the nature walk happens frequently, which I found both fresh and amusing. It's no spoiler that the pair don't accomplish any great feats. This isn't that type of movie. But, for the type of story being told, I expected more of a poignant message relating to life lessons in older age, or some kind of dramatic through line. None of this really exists, which is a shame. The movie is mildly enjoyable for it's humorous male bonding adventure. Most senior folk will probably like it more just for that reason. Personally, I wanted more. I'd be more forgiving if it went full-on farce, but it's not funny enough to go the extra step. I give it a pass for simple joys and some realism to the hiking.
