'Strangerland' is the kind of slow, bleak movie that I tend to like. Focus is squarely on the wife and husband's deteriorating marriage before, and during, their children's disappearance. More so on the personal turmoil that they bring upon themselves as a result of the whole ordeal. I felt all the pain and grief from the actors. They do a great job. The cinematography and direction are also excellent. I wish the same effort was put into the story. It ultimately goes nowhere. Nothing is ever resolved as we are led to believe. Scenes plod along with no real goal in mind. The ending is most definitely a disappointment. A shame considering the talent involved.
