'Awakens' The Giddy Fan In Me

'Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens' is a much welcomed return to form for the series. Anyone who was disappointed in Episodes 1-3 can rest easy after seeing this bombastic, rousing, nostalgic adventure. 'The Force Awakens' has brought excitement back to that galaxy far, far away. All of the feelings I had when watching the original trilogy as a kid have retuned. This entire film is a love letter to those three classics. It recaptures their spirit to an exact form. The plot runs so smooth. New developments are consistent with the fast pace, punctuated by thrilling action which moves the story along. A great mixture of practical and CG effects have an immersive quality and provide many moments for visual storytelling. Additions to the lore expand upon the already vast universe. Fans have much more to geek out on. Some of our old favorites return to glorious fanfare, while young newcomers inject a spark of lasting impression. I loved ALL of the new characters. Rey and Fin carry the entire movie with a fun ease and likable comroadarie. It took no effort to be able to root for their success. On the flip side, Kylo Ren made for a fascinating villain who's emotions are tangled in his inner struggle with both sides of 'the force'. His past plays a key part in the overall dramatic conflict that will continue in the next two sequels. The way in which everything ends had me wanting more immediately. I had such a blast that I saw this film three times on it's opening weekend. This was easily the most fun I had at the theater in 2015! I could not have asked for a better resurgence of the 'Star Wars' saga!
