Underwhelming Bore

Have you ever wanted to see a mundane western minus all of the things you like about westerns? Well, now you have 'Jane Got a Gun'. From the film's title and initial conceit, I thought this would be a return to the routine stylings of a western set to the empowerment of a lead female through acts of vengeance. Not the case at all. Instead, we get a poorly paced slog of a story padded with lousy flashbacks. The characters aren't interesting, the actors are just okay, and the direction is simply flat. Knowing the history behind the making of this film definitely shows us why those factors fall short. A constant string of people had left this film and certain requirements needed to be filled immediately without preparation. The writing wasn't good to begin with, but there still could've been something worth watching had necessary changes been made. The lack of passion permeates through to the viewing experience, leading to a promising title that underwhelms and bores. Forgettable in the most direct sense.
