'Bad Blood' in the Batman Mythos

'Bad Blood' starts off on decent footing. This continuation of the previous three DCU animated Batman releasees gives us a setup for an intriguing mystery involving the disappearance of Batman. Robin, Nightwing, along with newcomers Batwoman and Batwing (yeah that's his name), try to solve the mystery while simultaneously keeping the streets safe. Nightwing and Robin do their usual thing - I'm never going to warm up to these incarnations of the characters. Batwoman proves to be much more interesting, but her origin has to share so much screen time with everyone else that it's not as fleshed out as I would hope. Batwing is a minor character who doesn't don his superhero (it's just a techno-suit) persona until the final act. I was at least invested in the mystery. The reveal behind the Bat-napping is kind of disappointing, due to the villains being recycled from the previous films and their plan bordering on the unnecessary. The opening action scene is the major highlight, as the huge finale is riddled with action beats I've seen in countless other animated shows. If the characters weren't so drab, and the ideas were more fresh, this could've been the best of the new Batman animated adventures.
