Short Synopsis: A hit man who kills people from the future encounters the future version of himself.
This movie is excellent in my opinion. Where to start is the question. Well for one the acting. Joseph Gordon Levitt is especially sharp playing a young Bruce Willis. He has that bad ass hit man vibe that Willis is known so well for. I believe that Willis and Levitt's ability to successfully mirror each other is a huge hit or miss shot that Johnson took with the casting and it paid off. That's one of the driving forces behind the movie. The acting that was most impressive to me was that of the little boy. The dialogue and scene with him and the math was amazingly done. It sent shivers down my spine and made me feel for Emily Blunt like I was right there. If he wasn't as good as he was I would have never believed what his future had in store from him. The rest of the cast were capable of their roles but non of them blew my mind. Moving on to the writing. The writing is excellent. Rain Johnson even includes a line in the movie about time travel that essential flat out says he doesn't want to explain it. That's great. Also the way the younger looper can communicate with the older one is kind of gross but extremely awesome. Finally the way the movie ends just blows your mind. It's extremely clever and fantastically scribed. It leaves you shocked but also relieved. You might be upset you might not. It's a sick ending. This movie is a movie filled with good special effects, great performances, awesome make up and masterful writing. I forgot to mention that Rain Johnson's directing was fantastic and helped make this movie what it was. It was one of the top 5 directing jobs I saw in 2012. Go see it.
