Mama
KingInTheNorth - wrote on 07/06/13
Two young girls are living for five years alone in a house after their father and mother have "died". Now, their uncle(Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and his girlfriend (Jessica Chastain) want to take the children to them and take care of them. But they are not normal. They are very often saying "mama". A doctor tries to find out what or who "Mama" is...
The movie is written and directed by debutant Andy Muschietti who has made a short film with the same name ยด(MAma) and for his first time as director he has done a damn well job. The direction is almost perfect. As screenwriter he should take some practice, though. The script is very confusing. VERY confusing. Moreover, the dialogues sound weird.
The movie is produced by Guillermo del Toro(Pan's Labyrinth). Why didn't he said something to the script? I mean, he is a movie expert. I am very excited about "Pacific Rim"
The performances of jessica Chastain and N Coster-Waldau are good. I like NCW very much as "Jamie Lannister" in Game of Thrones, and I am a little disappointed by the performance, here.
The cinematography in this movie is very good, fits perfect to the direction.
I am very warm-hearted, so I had to scream very often, but objectively the movie only had a few really screams. Still, the movie would not have been scary at all if the direction wasn't just so good.
The movie would have been a perfect horror movie if the script just wouldn't have been so confusing. But it is still good
