"Mr. Smith Goes to Washington," though not my favorite Capra film, is definitely one of the most controversial and most important. Hauntingly real in today's world, corruption and greed from a newspaper magnate to control an entire state and then bringing it to Congress is a timeless battle. I loved Jimmy Stewart in one of his breakthrough roles, and Jean Arthur was great at bringing a strong female character to life in a time where women weren't necessarily looked at as being that incredibly strong. A wonderful, timeless classic, "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" is as important today as it was back then.
