Never had a disaster movie looked like an actual disaster occurred during production. Everything except for the costumes (which actually did earn an Oscar nomination) looks awful from the cinematography to the sets to the acting. Irwin Allen made disaster movies a viable genre so naturally he'd be the man to ruin it for years to come until the likes of Roland Emmerich came along in the 1990s.
