A spirited adaptation of a near forgotten radio program, Chandu the Magician is about a globe trotting crimefigher whose specialty are illusions and magic tricks which may or may not be real. His enemy is an Egyptian madman with a death ray played by Bela Lugosi. Helping him are a plucky princess and a cowardly valet. If this all sounds completely daft it's because it is! Surely daft but darn good pulp entertainment and a great 1930s adventure film chock full of cliffhangers, comedy, and charm.
