Just when you think James Wan has played every trick in the book when it comes to horror, suspense, and good old-fashioned scares, he catches you off guard and you love him for it! The Conjuring 2 is a damn good sequel to a damn great horror movie. Though the trappings are similar (a haunted house, a demonic presence) and you'll know when certain scenes happen thanks to the spoiler filled marketing, this is one unnerving and relentlessly frightening movie.
