Makes Pearl Harbor look like Saving Private Ryan.

The most interesting thing about this movie is the trivial background knowledge that its theatrical release was canceled by the Chinese government. See, one of the actresses was caught up in a tax evasion scandal and actually disappeared for 3 months under house arrest. I'd rather have seen THAT movie.
This movie on its own terms falls short of the sweeping war epics of classic Hollywood that it so desperately wants to evoke. Unconvincing CGI effects water down the urgency of the action scenes and aerial dogfights while the script itself uses every single cliche in the book for a movie like this. Sometimes it works, like in the much underrated Flyboys (remember that one?).
The plot is not only dumb and the acting is not much better. At least Pearl Harbor had some major talent behind it. This however has no real stars behind it besides some strange cameos by Bruce Willis and Adrien Brody. For some reason, Bruce Willis' daughter is also in this movie playing a nurse. Or a doctor. I was not really paying attention.
If there's anything kind to say about this movie, it's undeniably plucky.
