Nicol Williamson is a strong choice to play Sherlock Holmes and Robert Duvall is a surprisingly solid pick for Dr. Watson. The film is nice to look at; it's got a great sense of atmosphere and mystery to it. Except there's really nothing interesting or mysterious. Sure there's crimes to solve and a kidnapping at one point. But the movie's not really about that. It's more of a character study than a mystery film. Sometimes it's interesting; and it's kind of cool to see Sherlock Holmes meet Sigmund Freud. But you do wish they shifted towards something more exciting.
