SERENITY has made headwaves in the film industry for the wrong reasons. It contains one of the strangest and most outlandish plot twists in years. It's Shyamalan levels of insanity that makes the movie almost good. Instead it winds up being a mere curiosity. What saves it from being a complete waste of time is that the entire cast is in on it. Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway are both actually pretty good. Jason Clarke is suitably nasty as the classic noir heavy. It's pretty bad but I'd say it's arguably still worth a look just for the twist.
