Entertaining mixture of mystery, romance, and thriller elements.
Jeff Bridges plays the part of the heroic all-American dope alright. But he’s outclassed by Rachel Ward who is an alluring beauty while James Woods is great for a sleazy villain. A nice touch was casting film noir legends Richard Widmark and Jane Greer in supporting roles.
The car race is exciting; the scenery is breathtaking; the mystery is engaging; and the love story is convincing. There’s something for everyone to enjoy.
