Impeccably acted biographical drama about a cynical reporter who befriended the beloved children’s entertainer and educator Fred Rogers. Tom Hanks gives a warm hearted performance as Mr. Rogers.
The biggest surprise is how intelligent the screenplay is. Not shying away from the difficulties of harboring anger or sadness from one’s childhood at all. It’s sincere and earnest enough to not talk down to its audience.
