Weird black comedy-thriller drawing inspiration from the JFK conspiracy. Jeff Bridges plays the wayward scion to a powerful American family investigating the assassination of his brother while he was president.
There’s a surprisingly good cast in this movie made up of familiar Hollywood actors like John Huston, Anthony Perkins, Sterling Hayden, Ralph Meeker, Eli Wallach, and Brad Dexter. Many of them nearing the twilight of their career.
At its best moments, it conveys a genuine sense of paranoia and confusion. But there’s also a lot of filler. John Huston is a lot of fun as a cantankerous amalgamation of J. Paul Getty and Hugh Hefner. Jeff Bridges is kind of a wuss in this though.
