Atypical western from Errol Flynn as a Confederate officer whose outfit is trapped between hostile Indians and the Union forces. The movie has an effectively claustrophobic vibe. Flynn is good in a rare role that’s more sullen instead of suave. It’s an interesting if somber change of pace.
