Interesting western that contains a lot of melodrama and histrionics more fitting for a soap opera. But because it's Barbara Stanwyck and Walter Huston backed up by a good cast, the family drama becomes more engaging. Huston plays a narcissistic rancher whose daughter (Stanwyck) breaks from him and plots vengeance. Wendell Corey is in good form as a business rival of Huston who beguiles Stanwyck. Tensions gradually erupt and everyone is out for themselves by the end. It's all rather amusingly trashy for an early fifties western.
