This noir-thriller with espionage elements that starts out slow but it gets better. Mitchum is the stoic hero trying to piece together the complicated mystery. Ingrid Thulin is charming as his love interest. The persistent backstabbing and double-dealing is almost nonsensical at times. But perhaps it fits the Cold War backdrop.
