They Came to Cordura

And you wish they got to Cordura sooner.

An overly long and kind of dull western that tries to serve also as a psychological drama and a survival thriller. The set up is actually interesting.
Set during the Mexican Revolution, Gary Cooper plays an American soldier accused of cowardice that has to escort a group of soldiers intended to be commended for bravery. The expedition's morale is chipped away by the unforgiving desert landscape and Pancho Villa's revolutionaries stalking them. The dilemma facing them is who will retain their resolve and who will crack, endangering everyone around them?
We have some familiar faces like Van Heflin, Tab Hunter, and Richard Conte playing the other soldiers. Rita Hayworth is also tagging along as a prisoner that collaborated with Villa's troops. Gary Cooper is pretty good in the lead role as a conflicted but courageous officer trying to keep things in order.
But the movie is just kind of boring.
