Robert Aldrich directed this lurid and often cartoony melodrama about an actress ensnared in Hollywood intrigue. It happens to be one of Kim Novak's final lead performances. She's as lovely and alluring as can be. The other big names like Peter Finch and Ernest Borgnine chew the scenery. The plot plays out like a soap opera and it feels like it's trying to be satire. But it winds up being pure camp. But it's not boring.
