Jessica Chastain carries this meandering biopic on her shoulders. Although Andrew Garfield is appropriately slimy as the televangelist Jim Bakker, it is a bit one-note. The makeup on Chastain is unsettling but her heartfeld performance as Tammy Faye is captivating.
