Long awaited sequel to John Carpenter's cult hit Escape from New York. It's very similar to the earlier movie except it feels less fresh and lacks that movie's nihilistic edge. There is not as much CGI as I expected but it looks pretty bad when you see it. There are some okay action scenes. The ruined cityscape that was once Los Angeles is not as cool looking as the megaprison that comprised of Manhattan in the 1981 movie. Kurt Russell is fine reprising his role as Snake Plissken.
