This latest installment in the Jack Ryan film universe is surprisingly violent at times. Which I'll take if the story was any good. But instead it is a very generic spy thriller. Jamie Bell has some good moments as a morally gray CIA operative. Michael B. Jordan is not bad though his character switches from patriot to vigilante on a dime. I know it's tempting to give Jodie Turner-Smith some slack because she faced harassment from online trolls. But she still is not very good in this. She has a flat wooden delivery. Going back to the violence, I commend it for not watering it down. But the story could had been far better.
