Proper to a fault and very talky even as romantic period films go. It could have benefited from being a more risqué film. Katherine Waterston and Vanessa Kirby do a good job with the material. More lascivious viewers will be disappointed with the lesbian sexual content being limited to a brief montage. I know I was.
