Hard to believe this is a Merchant-Ivory collaboration. The costumes look nice. But it is unsure if it's a serious drama or something much sleazier. The orgy scene makes me wonder if they wanted a Jazz Age version of 'Caligula'. James Coco is very good as a fading comic actor trying to make a comeback. Raquel Welch is good casting as a 1920s flapper and she has a fun dance number in the beginning of the movie. But really, she then becomes just an object for three different male characters to fight over.
