This is not an actual followup to the 1932 movie Doctor X with Lionel Atwell. That movie leaned into the gothic horror-mystery element. This one is oddly a more comedic movie with a conventional Frankenstein-lite story. Humphrey Bogart is the villain here and he looks like a cartoon but it's kind of funny.
