Atrocious final installment to superhero film saga

This movie is awful. It's a travesty that Christopher Reeve's Superman series ended with this utter trash. The plot is stupid. Superman removes all the nuclear weapons while Lex Luthor creates a nuclear powered supervillain. This feels like a stretched out pilot for a lame '80s tv series honestly. The production values are shockingly cheap looking. No doubt a result of the budget being cut from $36M to $17M and boy does it show. Reportedly they also removed forty minutes from the original cut so it's remarkably short at ninety minutes.
That's one of two bright spots I can think of. The other one is not Christopher Reeve. I know his portrayal is iconic but he apparently co-wrote the script and had an ego trip onset so he's partly responsible for this mess. The other bright spot is actually Mariel Hemingway as a romantic interest oddly not for Superman but for Clark Kent. She resembles Brooke Shields except a more naturally talented actress and her scenes with Reeve almost work. Almost.
