Affectionate but uneven spoof of classic Hollywood film noir. Peter Falk is actually an inspired choice for the Humphrey Bogart role.
He’s seduced and double-crossed by a parade of femme fatales throughout the movie. Each one increasingly more offbeat than the last. Easily the best suited actress for the material is Ann-Margaret.
It’s got quite the ensemble cast really, and they are all trying. But the plot almost barely exists and I couldn’t make heads or tails of it. Maybe that’s the joke but it’s not very funny.
