Tobe Hooper lends some style to this '80s update of the fifties sci-fi movie. It feels a bit like an early Spielberg story with aliens but they're evil. The kid actor is pretty awful in this. Karen Black and Louise Fletcher both are not so bad. I guess it works as a nostalgia trip for people that grew up in the eighties but it's more kitschy junk than campy fun.
