Spoof of film noirs and mystery movies from classic Hollywood that wastes a decently assembled cast. Michael Caine could had been fun as a private eye in 1940s Hollywood. But he looks lost or bored half the time. Natalie Wood fares slightly better as the woman of mystery who still joins in on the comedy. It does not help that the plot is as incomprehensible as the Big Sleep, a movie that it clearly wants to be a parody of. Maybe that's the joke except it's not very funny. Just frustrating to sit through.
