Real-life couple Bette Davis and her husband Gary Merrill are an unlikely pair in this thriller. Davis plays a mystery writer who is confronted by a criminal associate (Merrill) of her estranged husband seeking to get even. Things get unexpectedly complicated for the two of them. There’s some fun twists and suspenseful moments. The setting at a secluded mansion in the English countryside makes it feel claustrophobic.
