Robert Ryan plays another surly antihero in this film noir but this time he's a loose-cannon cop. Who doesn't play by the rules. Ida Lupino is the blind recluse who melts his icy heart. Not much in the way of action and pretty talky. The best thing about it is the musical score. It was done by Hitchcock's guy Bernard Hermann and deserves a better movie.
