This superhero sequel to the earlier megahit is just as weird and cartoony as the first movie. There's bizarre creatures, colorful worlds, and a boatload of CGI spectacle. But the movie does feel rushed.
I will admit that I truly loved the first movie. But this one feels kind of half-finished. Some wide shots look good but then there are visual effects that seem unpolished.
I did like the buddy comedy set up between Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson,. An octopus sidekick provides further humor. And even though the movie looks visually uneven, I like the design and look of this movie. Like a weird mix of Bioshock and Spongebob.
