The poltergeist return and the hauntings take on new, over the top manifestations. For example, Robbie's braces inexplicably shoot wires out of his mouth and tie him up. The creature in the final battle is billed as the Vomit Creature and at one point an indiviual is possessed by a tequila worm. While Julian Beck offers a chilling portrayal as the evil Kane, the overall product does not balance the franchise's familiar family themes amongst the horrors of the supernatural very well.
