Kirk Cameron is a firefighter that can save strangers, is a hero in the public eye, but can't save his marriage. He therefore, because of his father's wishes, uses Christian ethics over a 40-day period to save his marriage.
The relevance and admiration for this film will undoubtedly manifest because over 50% of marriages in the U.S.A. end in divorce and also because the new "thing" is Kirk Cameron led Christian dramas. There is an audience for this and it will sustain for some time just as the Mary/Kate franchise did. The obvious difference between Mary/Kate and Kirk is that we all knew the Mary/Kate movies were direct to video, didn't deserve theater screens, and were targeted at a specific audience. Nobody has realized that this film (as well as the Left Behind's) are mere made for TV flicks that don't deserve to be on theater screens either.
