Should have won best picture

This will always be a great movie in my opinion. It has some great acting and a good Robin Williams character, not a dumb, goofy one like he is best known for. The thing I like most about this film is it shows the bond that people have when they are part of something bigger than themselves. This is a common theme with war and sports movies but it has never been done so well outside of those genres in my opinion.
There is a reason this movie was nominated for best picture in 1990, I only wish I knew the reason it lost.

Dead Poets' Society Review comment
It was actually nominated for the 1989 best picture (though the awards always take place a year later). There were a lot of good movies nominated for 1989 included Born on the Fourth of July, Field of Dreams and My Left Foot - all of which outstanding films in my opinion.
