Great psychological horror, creepy not scary

This movie was not at all what I expected. I came in thinking it was a flat our horror filled with cheap scares and lots of gore. But that is not at all what Bug is like. It is more of a psychological horror. It doesn't really have any "true scares" but the whole movie is creepy to watch and by the end I felt weirded out which is always a good sign with any horror.
The acting and dialog of Ashley Judd and Michael Shannon's characters was suburb (some thing I am not used to saying about a horror movie). I felt the plot was good but mostly predictable in terms of the overall picture but it was still executed well and there were lots of little surprises along the way. Most of the movie resembled a thriller/drama and it wasn't until a couple of key scenes like Michael Shannon ripping out a tooth with a pair of pliers and the room shaking and lights flickering that I felt like it could be a horror.
One thing I wish they could have done is found a way to make the movie move a bit faster. It was just over and hour and half but it felt like it was over two hours long. This was mostly due to a few scenes that had dialog that seemed to go on and on. Most of these scenes were still enjoyable because the dialog and acting as I had already mentioned was great. Still, I longed for it to move along faster.
If the movie could have been slightly less predictable I would have given it 3.5 stars, but as it is, it is a great 3 star movie.
