Flawed but still interesting to watch

I enjoyed watching this movie, but I did feel that it wasn't as good as Lost Boys. Near Dark was more thought-provoking than Lost Boys, but had so many holes that I had trouble just enjoying it for what it was... an 80's vampire flick. These group of vampires lived night-to-night without any reason but to kill until the new guy "Caleb Colton" came along and fell in love with one of the vampires.
For vampires who can live forever and do really what ever they want, as long as they stay out of daylight, they sure were a bit retarded. In the week span that we saw they almost died every morning because day light crept up on them each time. Furthermore, they would black out the windows of their car with spray paint and tape to protect them from the sun, yet their clothing didn't seem to protect them in the least. Kinda odd.
********SPOILER*******
Another thing was at the end when Caleb got a blood transfusion from his father and it cured him of being a vampire. So apparently you can get bit by a vampire and that makes you a vampire. As a vampire you have to drink human blood every day to survive, yet if you get human blood directly in your blood stream, via transfusion, you are cured! I don't by it and quite frankly it was dumb

I realize this movie is about vampires and it is not realistic anyhow, but those were the type of things that bugged me as the movie went on.
Overall, even with the flaws, it is still an amusing watch.
