One of the more original movies I have seen. The director Troy Duffy does a fantastic job keeping things a slight mystery and revealing the events a little at a time. The acting of Willem Dafoe is nothing short of brilliant. He plays an eccentric gay detective that is trying to get the bottom of a crime spree in Boston. His dialog and even accent are very believable. The brothers in the movie, Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus also do a fantastic job. Their brotherly bond really makes you feel for them and their cause and sometimes makes you think that they have more than just a emotional bond but are in a way linked to each other physically, almost as if they feel each other's pain.
One almost gets the idea that they are God's messengers and are actual saints. This idea is partly created by a jail scene where the two of them wake up in almost what can be described as a possessed state. Also, they seem to have the most amazing luck of anyone that has ever lived and it is almost as if God is protecting them.
Throughout the movie there is great dialog and humorous scenes which keep things very light-hearted, yet there are very serious undertones and thought-provoking topics. All of the comedy is helped along by one "Funny man" who is played by David Della Rocco who is genuinely hilarious.
If the acting, comedy and good plot wasn't enough the soundtrack is contains some good techno music that keeps things paced pretty fast. This is one of my favorite movies ever. Buy this one right away.
