I have never played the D&D games or know anything but what I've heard described from a couple people I know about Dungeons & Dragon's back in the 80's. I have no idea what I said, heard or happened yesterday, let alone 30 plus years ago.
The movie itself manages to stay a float with some funny written bits, some over the top effects and a winning Chris Pine.
I can't lie some of the acting was pretty weak and some scenes felt like they were slipping into Disney-like sap but it kept coming up with just enough heart and a good amount of witty writing to be better than I had expected it would be.
