I thought it was pretty cool. Lots of action, lots of shaky camera movements, kept you interested.
The only draw back was that it was so much like I, Robot and Enemy of the State. Not that a film can't use other films as inspiration, but this was borderline plagiarism. That bothered me a little. I mean, if your gonna use other movies plot lines, then take it to the next level. Do something different with it, otherwise you're just copying. You're not original.
One of the ways they could have done that was to have Jerry die or let the computer win something like that. I think it would have made it that much more realisti. What if they failed, what would've happen? Something like that, would have catapulted this movie to more than just a blockbuster thrill ride, but an edgy, hip thriller actual worth remembering. I think they tried to do that in the beginning, but, alas, Hollywood had to stepped in and give it the happy , cliche, fairy tale ending.
Like think about the beginning of the film for a sec. It was all about how retarded the governement was for giving the go ahead to assasinate someone, when they didn't have enough sufficent evidence that that was the right person to kill. That's why the computer wanted to off the executive branch, because they violated the Declaration of Independence. Granted, the computer had a crazy way of overturning the governement, but that fact, was lost in the movie. They completely forgot about it midway through. And my thing is, if you're gonna put that in as a plot device, then develop it a little more. USE IT! That would have been awesome if the showed the governement finally be held accountable for it's actions (of course, without risking innocent lives) This movie had sooo many opportunities to be edgy, creative, DIFFERENT, but they didn't. They copped out for a safe happy ending. And they're not alone, I Am Legend, did the same thing.
So, overall the only good and bad thing about this movie, it was a great edge-of-your-seat, mindless, popcorn flick, but that's ALL it was......
