Joss Whedon's second dive into the Marvel Cinematic Universe delivers the pleasant thrills and entertainment one would typically expect in one of these offerings. "Avengers: Age of Ultron" isn't nearly as flawlessly written and structured as Whedon's first great installment. This sequel just gets the job done. The characters are tons of fun. The action is well handled and shot remarkably. Ultron, at best, delivers laughs, which is a bit of a letdown considering he's nothing close to the force of nature I wanted him to be. Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch (especially Scarlett Witch) are great additions to the team, but old timers including Black Widow and Bruce Banner share a subplot that, while not senseless, feels a little pointless and time consuming. But when all is said and done, Joss Whedon delivers the goods and does so with style. It's a fairly good sequel that buckles your seatbelt for the upcoming Civil War.
